January 2019 Favorites

Another month has passed. I feel like I always feature mostly new products in my favorites, but this month I have rediscovered some of my old favorites. These are my staples as well as some products that I was newly introduced to and have already make great impression.

COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

I have only been using it for over a week, but I already love it. Snail is known for being very healing and that is exactly what this did. I used it on my back where I still get dermatitis every winter and I scratch my skin off. I then am left with dry skin and sometimes even scars. This definitely sped up healing process. I used this with hyaluronic acid essence to add some moisture as well as help it heal faster. I also use this on the face, mostly in the evening. It's viscose, not too heavy, but has that nice nourishing layer. So far I see improvement in my skin being softer as well as my pimple scars healing up faster.

This is my go to foundation combination for winter. Missha has more of a grey tone, while Catrice has slightly warmer tone. Mix of the two creates the perfect winter complexion tone for my skin. I also love that Missha looks ultra natural on the skin and has a bit of that creamy sheen, while Catrice has more of a lightweight and semi matte finish. Mixed together they give me good coverage, lightweight feel and just enough sheen that my skin doesn't look too flat.

I still don't know why Essence discontinued these. They are so nice. Creamy formula with a lot of small shimmer creates either opaque metallic look or light shimmery/glittery wash of color over any base. I love to use this as an accent on my lid for just a touch of that glam. It's so easy to apply and stays put for the whole day. This light golden shade goes with pretty much any look.

I have been loving using this lash primer in combination with Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. Lash primer is that basic white colored cream that coats your lashes and makes them thicker with just one swipe. It's a great base for those mascaras that lack in volume department. Like Maybelline, which is more of a defining mascara, but this primer adds some volume to it. I would have never thought I will like a lash primer, but I do.

Lip glosses have been pretty much all I have been using this month. Here and there I wore a pop of colorful lipstick, but it was mostly about comfort. This lip gloss has a thicker creamy formula that sticks to the lips so well. Pigmentation for a lip gloss is great. It doesn't feel sticky, but it creates such a comfortable feel on the lips, like most thicker lip glosses. Shade Mystic Sand is that perfect nude that has just enough pink in it, warm base and muddy brown to it. Perfect to pair with any look.

The Body Shop Cactus Blossom Body Yogurt

I love the smell of this whole range. It has a mix of sweet fruity and fresh floral notes. It's the perfect fragrance for spring, a bit sweet still, but going into that fresh spring vibe. I love all of the products - body peeling and shower gel as well, but this body yogurt is so quick and easy to apply. It's more of an off white gel formula that spreads with such ease. Even though the texture is lightweight, it still gives the skin enough of moisturizing layer and the scent is nice too. Not too strong, just enough to make you enjoy it.

This is my all time favorite perfume from Avon (apart from Far Away Exotic which has been discontinued). I love oriental base of amber, sandalwood and dark chocolate. Top notes are a bit floral, but the sophisticated oriental sweetness overpowers it which I love. I haven't smell anything as sweet in such a sophisticated way before. It's not like those teenage sweet scents, this is a grown up version. The design is just as stunning, you know me, I love gold. I have been using it a lot this month.

My birthday month

I just turned thirty this month and let me tell you, I don't feel like it. Most of the people I met say I look younger which definitely flatters me, but I feel younger as well. Age is just a number and I have never felt this to be so true as I feel it now, when I am actually getting older. You are who you are, no matter the age. I definitely had other plans for my life when I would turn thirty, but it's ok. I go at my own pace and I'll get to where I want whenever I feel like it. That being said, I have great plans for my thirties and I just hope at least half of them turn out as I am planning them.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up Marie Kondo

A book everyone has read by now and everyone is talking about it. I admit, I was intrigued by the tidying up concept. I love organizing things, but it usually never lasts. It's not like I'm a messy person, but I just don't keep my things well organized all the time. I do have space for everything, it's the tidying that sometimes falls short. I have read the book. First of all, treating clothes like they need the rest, that was a bit too much for my realistic mind. I kind of like sorting things by the fact, if they bring me joy, but I am one of those people that has a hard time getting rid of things. So it's hard for me. My main fear is that I will be left with no clothes at the end of this process. I even folded some clothes with her method and it's not the most practical for my closet. I have one of those smaller closest with very little hanging space and mostly just deep and wide shelves. I am still trying to figure my layout out and I did get rid of four bags of clothes. but there's definitely more room for improvement.
